Disable certain keys on 'enhanced' keyboards
Hardware
Keyboards

'Shutdown', 'Power off', and 'suspend' keys will often force the computer to do their bidding regardless of OS settings. Even disabling ACPI in the BIOS will sometimes not work to prevent this. The surest way to fix these annoying keys once and for all is to simply disable them in hardware, like this:

1. Open keyboard with screwdriver and remove circuitry from plastic housing. Be careful not to let the keys fall all over the place; some keyboards have many unattached individual keys.

2. Put scotch tape on or between (whichever looks like it would work) the conductors for the keys you want to disable. Scotch tape is sufficiently insulating to stop the keys from working.

3. put keyboard back together.
